Get Ready!
I have to say that I am excited! Over the last few weeks, I have seen God moving in some pretty incredible ways in the life of our church. From people finally surrendering to God to those letting God do what He needs to do, there is something going on. God is moving and I cannot wait to see what is next.
God is always ready to do things in our personal lives and in the life of our church. The difference between His movements really depends on us. Are we will to listen and obey? Are will willing to surrender? Are we ready to allow Him to take control of our lives? My hope and prayer is that the last few weeks will only be the beginning of a great revival at our church. I encourage you to come to worship and Bible study with an expectancy of what God is going to do. When you see Him moving, give Him the glory and look to see how you can be a part of it.
One of the exciting things is that we have recently decided to modify our church mission and vision statements. You will find them below. Be prayerfully considering how God may be calling you to help us fulfill our mission through our vision.
Mission:
To be a community of believers that loves God with all our heart, mind and soul and loves our neighbors as ourselves as we fulfill the Great Commission in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and beyond.
Vision:
To fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19) through the use of the gifts, ministries, activities, talents and interests that God has given to each of us. (1 Corinthians 12:4-6)
See you this weekend!
In X,
Luke
SINGIN' PSALMS_________
with (The-Music-Guy)
An old preacher was dying. He sent a message for his doctor and his lawyer to come to his home. When they arrived, they were ushered up to his bedroom.
As they entered the room the preacher held out his hands and motioned for them to sit, one on each side of his bed. The preacher grasped their hands, sighed contentedly, smiled and stared at the ceiling.
For a time, no one said anything. Both the doctor and lawyer were touched and flattered that the preacher would ask them to be with him during his final moments. They were also puzzled; the preacher had never given them any indication that he particularly liked either of them.
They both remembered his many long, uncomfortable sermons about greed, covetousness and avaricious behavior that made them squirm in their seats.
Finally, the doctor said, "Preacher, why did you ask us to come?
The old preacher mustered up his strength, then said weakly, "Jesus died between two thieves.. and that's how I want to go."
Psalm 119: 33-37 - Teach me, O Lord, to follow your decrees; then I will keep them to the end. 34Give me understanding and I will keep your law and obey it with all my heart. 35Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. 36Turn my heart towards your statutes and not toward selfish gain. 37Turn my eyes from worthless things; preserve my life according to Your word.
As we go through our week, let's seek out what God would desire from us. Ask him to give each of us the understanding we need to see things through His eyes. Once we recognize these things, we must act on them. These new desires should point us to unselfish things, a heart of obedience and the desire to help those around us. This desire to help should be one of love and not one of personal gain. May God bless you as you seek after Him and seek to keep his laws in your life and written on your heart. God's love is so great and He wants to use us in unique ways to display that love to the world and those around us. Let's try to a little more like Jesus and less like ourselves!
