“From there to here, from here to there, funny things are everywhere!”

Teaching rhyming is important for so many reasons! To begin with, a multitude of research has shown a correlation between rhyming mastery and eventual reading preparedness. Also, rhyming helps kids improve their oral language skills overall. It helps them to playfully manipulate their language, which gives them a kind of “permission” to manipulate language in other ways.
"With children and their development, nothing is more important than imagination to help with the growth of thought processes and creativity. Curiosity holds an important place in the minds of kids because it helps provide them with the will to explore objects and places that they do not know."
My Many Colored Days & The Shape of Me and Other Things
On this 2 day project we started by drawing & painting with many colors and the next day, we cut it out of portraits (The Shape of Me...)
After this story, we practice some basic gross motor skills by playing Hop on Numbers! Hopping can be a challenging skill for young bodies!
We also played an ABC popcorn game for Hop on Pop-saying letter sounds & counting how many we had.
