Conflicts
Person vs. Person

The conflict in this story is the Blue Bloods vs. the Silver Bloods. The Blue Bloods are the good vampires, and the Silver Bloods are the bad vampires. In this story, vampires came to be because God had cast out Lucifer and his angels from heaven, and as a punishment for their sins, they had to live their immortal lives on Earth as vampires, where they were dependent on human blood to survive. After this was done, Lucifer and a small group of his followers broke off from the rest of the group. They rejected God and were angry for being banished. They didn't believe in the code of the vampires because they didn't want to live within any type of law. Lucifer and his vampires discovered that sucking blood from Blue Bloods made them stronger than sucking blood from humans. By consuming other vampires blood, their blood turned Silver, which is where they got their name. (also known as Croatan) The Silver Bloods also broke the Code of the Vampires by directly interfering in human affairs and by gaining power in the human world. The Silver Blood's were going against everything the Blue Bloods believed in, and that's how the feud between the two groups came about.

"For thousands of years, the Silver Bloods hunted and killed and consumed Blue Bloods. But the Blue Bloods never stopped fighting them. It was their only way to survive."

Setting and Point of View
The setting of this story is present day in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York. Most of the characters in this story are related to the old buildings somehow.

"The island of Manhattan was linked inexorably to her family history, as as far as she could tell, she was related to the Frick Museum, the Van Wyck Expressway, and the Hayden Planetarium, give or take an institution or two."

The point of view is third person omniscient because the narrator knows the feelings and thoughts of the characters in this story.

"Within seconds, it had her in her grasp. She felt the sharp fangs puncture her skin and begin to slowly draw her life's blood from her. She swooned, gasping. She was going to die. She was fifteen years old and had hardly even lived, and already she was going to die. She struggled against its iron grip. Worse, knowing what her grandmother had told her, she would live. She would live in this foul beast's memory, a trapped prisoner to its insane consciousness forever. The pain was deep; she was feeling dizzy from the blood loss. But just before she succumbed, there was a shout."
