Finally Cracked
In this photo you see George comforting Lennie when he confesses that he accidently killed Curley's Wife. In this scene George comforts Lennie and tells him everything is going to be okay. Then George tells Lennie to "look across the creek and picture the farm and tending the rabbits." Then George shoots Lennie and kills him to put him out of his misery.
In the story Of Mice and Men, the characters play a big role in how the story unfolds. At the beginning of the story Lennie and George are dropped off by a bus 10 miles from the ranch they are going to. Lennie is a big man, at over 6'0 tall, who has a mental disability. George is a nice young man who is mentally strong as well as physically strong. George promised Lennie's Aunt Clara that he would watch over him. As they get to the ranch they are greeted by a man named Candy. He is a wiry, old handyman thats only love is his dog, who was once a impressive sheep herder who I now toothless, old, and smelly. As Lennie and George settle in to the old and smelly bunks, Curley's Wife and Crook find there way up to the house. Curley's Wife is the only female character in the novel,Curley's wife is never given a name and is only referred to inreference to her husband. The men on the farm refer to her as a“tramp,” a “tart,” and a “looloo."Crooks is a blackstable-hand, gets his name from his crooked back. He is a proud bitter man you thinks nobody care about him.
Candy, Slim, and Carlson talking in the house at the table.
The setting of this story, Of Mice of Men, is in the woods, at the ranch, in a field, and next to a creek in California. When Lennie and George are in the woods they are trying to find the ranch. When they are at the ranch Lennie and George they are working, playing cards, andplaying horseshoes. When they are in the field, they are running from the people of the ranch because they are trying to kill Lennie for killing Curley's Wife. When they are next to the creek George comforts Lennie and then shoots him.
George and Lennie finally see the ranch for the first time.
There was many conflicts between the characters in Of Mice and Men.The conflicts are Lennie vs self, Lennie vs Curley, Lennie vs society, and George vs self. I will now briefly describe each conflict that was listed. Lennie vs self has to do with his disability and how much he struggles with living. In Lennie vs Curley, there is a fight between Curley and Lennie is which Lennie gets cuts on his face and Curley gets his hand crushed. In Lennie vs Society, Lennie accidentally kills Curley's Wife and everyone is out to find him and kill him. In George vs self, George has to decide what to do with Lennie at the creek near the end of the book. George decides that the best thing to do is to kill Lennie because it would make the situation better and end his suffering.
George and Lennie running from everyone at the ranch!
The story Of Mice and Men was told from 3rd person objective. This means that whoever told the story was not there. The quote I chose to present that 3rd person objective is “They both walked along the path towards the house.” In this they are talking about George and Slim going to get a drink.
This picture shows Lennie and Candy after Lennie accidentally kills Curley's Wife.
There was a intense plot line in this story. It went from screaming and yelling to gaging and killing. I will now list the complete plotline from the story, Of Mice and Men. The exposition is when George and Lennie are dropped off of the bus 10 miles from the ranch. They have to walk to the ranch from there. The rising actions in this case are when they get to the ranch, when they meet Candy and Curley's Wife, deciding to get there own place, Candy finding out, Candy wanting to join them in raising money to buy there place, Lennie getting a puppy, Lennie's talk with Crooks, Curley's wife threating Crooks, Lennie killing the puppy and when Lennie accidentally kills Curley's Wife and then is chased by everyone from the ranch so that they can kill him. That is one intense plot line! The climax in this case is when George shoots Lennie and kills him to put him out of his misery. George thought that this would make things better because Lennie wasn't living a happy life cause of his disability. The final part of the plot is resolution. It is that Slim helped George to his feet after he had killed Lennie and said to him, “Come on George, Me an' you'll go in an' get a drink.” That was how the story ended.
This picture is of Curley in his boxing gloves.
There are two themes presented in this story, Of Mice and Men. The first theme has to do with Lennie, it is that you should treat all people nicely even if they are different. The second theme that I noticed also has to do with Lennie. This one is to listen to your superiors because what they tell you is usually the right thing to do, so listen to what your superiors say.
